Triangle Hot Spots.

Today I want to talk about fishing. more specifically, I want to talk about fishing in the triangle are. Raleigh and the area surrounding holds a plethora of ponds and streams that can be easily accedes with a fly rod. Some of the most popular ponds and lakes to fish in the Raleigh area include Harris Lake, Jordan lake, and Falls lake.
Harris Lake: Harris lake is a man made lake with its soul purpose being to cool the nuclear power plant next to it. This is by far my favorite lake. Since it is next to the power plant there are daily tests done to the water and it must be kept in perfect condition. It is the cleanest lake in the area. Along any bank in the entire lake you can find large beds of grass and cattails deep in the coves. This provide the perfect conditions for large mouth bass and an assortment of pan fish.
Jordan lake: Jordan lake is about two times the size of Harris lake. Jordan is no where as clean as Harris but still holds many bass and pan fish
Falls lake: Falls Lake is the size of Harris but holds absolutely nothing. I spent a week there once and didn’t even see a bird that wanted to touch the water. The bottom of falls lake is composed of red clay. The shore has no reeds or plant life to support many fish. Some people might say that there are a lot of fish but I have yet to see a single one.
You have a better chance of landing a monster hog at Harris lake than you do at any of the other lakes. Harris is the cleanest and holds the most structure. Any color arrangement clause minnow is a good choice of fly. Personally I had better luck using a chartreuse and yellow minnow.
